What you need to work in this specialty.

| Minimum experience | Minimum 12 months post-graduate experience with at least 12 months in a mental health setting. Experience with acute inpatient adult mental health is the core requirement. |
| Pre-arrival certifications | Basic Life Support (BLS) must be current. Conflict resolution or aggression management training preferred. Mental Health First Aid beneficial. |
| Orientation period | Typically 1–2 weeks covering local protocols, risk assessment frameworks, and documentation systems. De-escalation competency assessment may be included. |
| AHPRA registration | Required before starting work. We can provide guidance and support throughout the AHPRA process. |
