What you need to work in this specialty.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Minimum experience | Minimum 12 months post-graduate experience with at least 12 months in a paediatric setting. PICU roles require specific paediatric critical care experience. |
| Pre-arrival certifications | Basic Life Support (BLS) must be current. Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS or APLS) preferred for PICU and Paediatric ED roles. Child protection training may be required. |
| Orientation period | Typically 1–2 weeks. PICU orientations tend to be longer given the acuity and complexity of the patient population. |
| AHPRA registration | Required before starting work. We can provide guidance and support throughout the AHPRA process. |
