What you need to work in this specialty.
| Requirement | Detail |

| Minimum experience | Minimum 12 months post-graduate experience with at least 12 months in a neonatal setting. NICU roles require Level 2 or Level 3 neonatal experience. |
| Pre-arrival certifications | Basic Life Support (BLS) must be current. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) required for most neonatal roles. Level-specific competencies apply — confirm at time of placement. |
| Orientation period | NICU orientation is typically 2–4 weeks given the complexity and acuity of neonatal care. SCN orientations are generally 1–2 weeks. |
| AHPRA registration | Required before starting work. We can provide guidance and support throughout the AHPRA process. |
