Level 3 NICU experience preferred. High dependency neonatal care skills required.
Special Care Nursery (SCN) Consistent demand
Level 1 and Level 2 neonatal care experience.

Experience with neonatal transitional care alongside postnatal settings.
What you need

What you need to work in this specialty.

Requirement Detail
Minimum experience Minimum 12 months post-graduate experience with at least 12 months in a neonatal setting. NICU roles require Level 2 or Level 3 neonatal experience.
Pre-arrival certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) must be current. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) required for most neonatal roles. Level-specific competencies apply — confirm at time of placement.
Orientation period NICU orientation is typically 2–4 weeks given the complexity and acuity of neonatal care. SCN orientations are generally 1–2 weeks.
AHPRA registration Required before starting work. We can provide guidance and support throughout the AHPRA process.
