Beaches & the NSW Coastline.
One of the first things UK and Irish nurses notice about Sydney is how easy it is to get to the beach. Bondi is 20 minutes from the city by bus. Manly is a short ferry ride from the CBD.
The coastline that surprises everyone.
The NSW coastline stretches for hundreds of kilometres in both directions from Sydney. For nurses making the move from the UK, the access to beaches, open water, and coastal walks is one of the most frequently cited reasons they are glad they came. After a night shift, a morning swim at a Sydney beach is a genuinely different way to decompress.
Sydney’s beaches.
Bondi Beach is the most famous, but Sydney has dozens of beaches across its coastline and harbour. Coogee, Manly, Bronte, Tamarama, Palm Beach, Freshwater — each has its own character and community. Many of our nurses settle within walking or cycling distance of the water.

The NSW coastline.
Beyond Sydney, NSW has some of Australia’s most spectacular coastal scenery. The Royal National Park south of Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle’s beaches, and the far North Coast around Byron Bay are all within reach during a stay in NSW.
Regional nursing contracts also place nurses in towns along the coast, giving access to parts of the state that most Sydney-based nurses never see.
